Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly

Waking Up Married

Synopsis: It's the morning after her cousin's bachelorette party in Vegas and Megan Scott wakes up with the mother of all hangovers. Even worse, she's in a stranger's penthouse having woken up with something else as well - a funny, arrogant, sexy...husband!

If you're in the mood for some light hearted romance with a quick read time, then this is your book. Basically, Connor and Megan find themselves in an awkward situation when too much liquor ends them in a Vegas style marriage. However, Connor is delighted with the idea of a loveless partnership and willing to make it work. If he can only convince Megan.

You've seen it before. They're both hurt over previous circumstances, swear off intimacy, and then a story develops. The reason I am going to recommend this as your next beach read is that Mira Lyn Kelly keeps this book light, keeps her characters well developed (even if he is arrogant), and, more importantly, offers a better back story for them both than your typical romance.

Reading the reviews I noticed those that didn't like this story disliked Connor. Some people are turned off by arrogant characters. That being said, I'm not so much. Arrogance, misconceptions about love, etc. those are realistic qualities.

A man that comes from no where, is rich, sexy, charming, funny, and gentle? Well, you don't rise to the top by being a gentle man. You need spunk. Which often comes in the form of confidence. Unfortunately, confidence and arrogance are a fine line. In this case, Connor can have both, but characters need flaws. And if they don't, then I'm not sure why we don't just stop reading beach read romances and start filling out mad libs.

"He was perfect for her. He had everything. He was ___________ and __________, but more

importantly, he was _______ about her."

This book needs some attention. It isn't going to end up on my shelf as my favorite, but it's a wonderful addition to your light, quick, beach read tot bag.

  1. I like your rating system! I picked this up as a freebie, and while I enjoyed it, it didn't particularly stand out in my mind as something I want to read again. It'd be perfect for a beach read as it's an entertaining, light read.
